Your results, in context.
Start with a question.
Would a moving-average rule have improved on simply holding the same asset? Set your assumptions, then compare the two.
Results use actual historical observations. No example returns are invented.Strategy vs. buy & hold

Inputs, results and exact data snapshots stay together in this browser. Without optional storage, they last for the open page only. They do not sync between devices. Export experiment JSON for a backup.
Your data. Your research.
The public beta calculates in your browser using the files you choose.
Import a daily price CSV.
Supply Date, Open, High, Low, Close and Volume for each instrument. Use 250–10,000 observations on one consistent adjustment basis. The calculator does not invent missing prices, adjust corporate actions, or download a market feed.
Import each ticker separately, then enter several ticker symbols to compare them. The same listing currency is used for each test; currencies are not converted.
Held in this browser.
CSV contents, experiments and price snapshots stay on this device. Backtests run in a browser worker; your files are not sent to Market Thread. With optional storage enabled in Cookie settings, saved runs survive a normal reload. Otherwise work lasts for the open page only.
Clearing site data or using private browsing can remove saved work. There is no cross-device sync. Export experiment JSON for a backup.

What is connected?
The Options Lab uses manual assumptions and needs no price feed. Public backtests currently use your CSV files. Automatic public stock-history access is not connected: the free providers reviewed restrict external display or commercial use, and no suitable free arrangement has been verified.
Yahoo downloads remain available in the separate local desktop terminal for personal research. No Yahoo stock-history feed is connected to this public tool.
Source quality matters. Adjusting only Close while leaving Open, High and Low unadjusted can create false returns. Declare the basis of your entire file, and keep it consistent.
